Keeping Motivated During A Workout Slump

Keeping Motivated During A Workout Slump

There are times in your fitness life that you hit an invisible wall, for many of us, it has happened more than once and quite honestly it is a slump that is difficult to break. Everyone needs a little workout motivation from time to time. Again, it isn’t something you need to be ashamed about or worried about. Having something to really keep you going is always good to have. After all a little workout motivation is useful for everyone and can really help when you’re in a pickle. So without further ado, here is a list of some workout motivation tips to help you push forward with your fitness plans.

Journal your progress and feelings – Nothing helps motivate you then seeing how far you’ve come after some time. During your fitness it is wise to track your progress by writing it down but to add on to that you should also write down how great you are feeling after a tough session. This will not only provide you with an awesome source for workout motivation, but it will really show you how far you’ve gotten in the past how many months or so you’ve been working out.

Remember why you started – Everyone starts getting into fitness for one reason or another, and whatever that reason is should be a driving force. Admittedly over time, your general reason could change for a new and better goal, who knows but it is always good to remember why you started in the first place. Give yourself a workout motivation by returning to the very reason you motivated to begin in the first place.

Make your goals visual by creating and strictly following a workout plan.

Think about how bad it is to skip on a workout – You’ve gotten really far on your fitness journey. Take the time to think about how regretful you’ll feel after skipping out on the next session. Use this as your workout motivation in order to push yourself out of the slump. Remember that you can look back and remember how you regret missing out on another powerful workout session.

Join a fitness group – This works wonders as a workout motivation. When you are hitting a wall maybe it is time to find comfort in like-minded people, find a group who will enjoy your particular type of training. They will really help keep up the workout motivation and push you to limits beyond what you think you can do. This is especially ideal when you want to learn more or just need an extra push in the right direction, the additional help is always welcomed in anyway possible.

Focus on that wonderful afterglow – As great as fitness is for our body, there is just something so alleviating about that wonderful feeling of satisfaction you get from after a great workout. Personally I love that endorphin rush at the end of a session and it keeps me happy pretty much throughout the day, I’m sure a lot of you have felt it several times over and getting addicted to that feeling is an awesome workout motivation.

Keep yourself surrounded by motivation – There is some power to motivational quotes, I truly believe that. It’s great to hear these things, read it or even talk about it. There are so many before us that have shared a lot of motivational quotes that are great for workout motivation.

Place some goals in sight – While your overall target is greater fitness, it would be ideal to have some minor goals set on a daily basis. Such as I will walk an extra two kilometers on the treadmill today, or I will do an extra set of reps on the bench today, things like that. These are great workout motivation ideas to really push you to keep going on a regular basis to the gym or to do your workout session.

When in doubt, bring your best buddy – There is something to be said about having your best friend go with you to the gym. He or she will push you harder and if they are like my best buddies, they will be a great workout motivation to reach the next fitness level. Besides going to the gym with them makes it so much more fun and makes it feel less and less like exercising rather than hanging out.

Use fun apps – Assuming it works for you, there are a ton of apps that can really help out as a way to increase the fun in your daily fitness workout and they are wonderful workout motivation tools as well. Such as a famous Pokemon Go app that really gets a person walking all over the place. There are so many other apps that can really help you push yourself and really keep your workout motivation at an all time high. I like the charity apps that donate a few cents every time I finish a kilometer, it gets to donate to my favorite charity and I get a good workout in, so a great win-win situation.

Compete with yourself – Much like placing a goal in front of yourself, you need to really compete with yourself as a workout motivation tool. You just have to keep improving everyday and sticking it to your older self! There is a great satisfaction to really beating yourself with an extra rep or two the following day, it also gives you a better overall fitness score in reality.

Things won't get boring when you join a fitness group or bring your buddies to the gym!

Remember your improvements – It may not seem very obvious at the beginning of your fitness journey, but you are slowly improving. You are getting stronger, faster, able to endure more and a lot more. Each day you are stepping towards your overall goal of being a better person than you were the day before. This is a powerful workout motivation tool for anyone who is dead set on really improving him or herself through getting fit and quite frankly I applaud them and cheer them on.

Prove to yourself that you can do it – In the end the true workout motivation can come from you. Repeat to yourself: “I can do this!” And now you don’t want to call yourself a liar do you? Prove to yourself that you can do it and go for the extra mile, in fact prove yourself even more by going an extra mile more with each fitness session. This will really help you push further and get stronger, keep doing this and soon enough that slump will be left in the dust.

The hard work that you have already put in from when you started is slowly paying off, keep going towards that goal and finish strong, because workout motivation as I mentioned really comes from you and what you think. Stay positive, stay strong and you will reach your goal even if you need to reach it one step at a time. Believe me that each step is worth it, because you are worth it. Stay healthy!
